from 890 reviewsI really enjoyed this intro to the Skye O'Shea Series. I found Skye interesting and relatable having started over myself after divorce without an inheritance to whisk me away. I'm excitedto see what hernew beginning brings.

Delightful story!

I really enjoyed this first in the Skye O’Shea series. I liked that the storyline was different and lots of Irish lore. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I ventured Into a new realm of Irish historical fiction, and was not disappointed. Book 1 in a series of 5 will keep me cozy for a few days. Looking forward to seeing what else the author has in store for me.

What an engaging and entertaining book! Plenty of twists and turns and wonderfully crafted red herrings! You never know whether your instinct as to who the killer could be is right or not, and juuuust when you think you’ve got it, there ar little seeds of doubt. LOVE IT. Great characters, thrilling and exciting series of events. Highly recommend if you like murder mysteries, Ireland, and more than a wee bit it the woogety woo!

This one really gets into the rituals of the fae, history of her Gran's life and who she was. People arrive that cause a whole of trouble and a death.

A fun read. I like the Ireland location and the references to old Irish folk lore. Characters interesting, more fleshed out than in many books. I'm moving on to the next one.

Not what I expected. The book is fresh with mystery and Irish folk lore. One I started reading it. I didn't want to stop until the end.

I received this book by the author with no compensation or conditions to write a review. I found this storyline to be quite interesting & plan to read more books in this series. I enjoy the paranormal genre & this prequel checked the boxes for me. If you enjoy this genre, I suggest you give it a try.

Read the prequel a few days ago and was hooked. Troubles between exes lead Skye into a world in Ireland she doesn't yet understand. Leaving problems behind in the states, she sets off for Ireland and an unexpected inheritance from her grandmother.Problems arise as son as Skye sets foot in Irish soil. Mysterious death, suspicions about Skye's family and unexpected behavior from the people.Add to that mystical happenings, noises in the night, A talking cat, and many other beings from Irish folklore make for an entertaining read. Ready for the next.

Excellent book. The characters where outstanding! Keep you guessing to the end.can't wait to continue the story! Gram is my favorite character.

I am enjoying the Irish story setting. Hope the series continues past book three.

This is a nice read! Interesting and imagination capturing. Great to read a fantasy that's not full of angst but mature life issues.

Really good read. Not too predictable, has enough twists to maintain interest. The kind of.escape.you want tomread.straight thru, cover to cover

not quite what I had heard as a child, but this is a nice retelling of the story and an admonition to never tick off your stepmother :-)
Misfortune of Time expresses a rich story, with both historical elements for early Christian Ireland, and a deep, moving story of a woman.Etain is a survivor, having lived many lifetimes. Yet she cannot escape the world in which she lives, the gender roles and the “rights” granted to others which shackle her.The abuse is very real, and she has to do whatever possible to endure.Wonderful, well-written characters and a world of history and magic.
Etain has lived lifetimes upon lifetimes as a holder of her family heirloom. The life of most women, young or old, during the turn of the first millennium was filled with abuse and degradation. Etain is no different but having the power of the brooch adds the additional danger of being judged a witch or demon if she is exposed. Safety means running when she can no longer hide and that means losing family and friends each time. A time will come when running is no longer possible. This is a fantastic series. I almost feel like I should read the books in reverse order since each builds a deeper view of the past but the order feels right as each piece is revealed. Christy Jackson Nicholas has crafted the most magnificent description of Queen Medb’s Court I have ever read. It is incredible! I received an advance copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
I really liked this story! Very well wrtten, almost felt as if I was in the tale. Ethien as The main character is very well defined. Both as character and visual Highly recommend you read this!
This is my second book in the series, but can easily be read as a standalone. What I really enjoyed about this book- and this series as a whole- is the way fantasy elements are woven into detailed, accurate historical fiction. The book does a great job of transporting you to the 11thC and has a fascinating cast of characters- some you will love and others you will love to hate. Recommended for both fantasy and historical fans.
